Ukrainian Troops Push Back Russians from Kupiansk
The Ukrainian Defense Forces have successfully repelled Russian troops from the city of Kupiansk, according to reports. The spokesperson for the Operational Command “Khortytsia” Nazar Voloshyn said that the situation in and around the city is under control.
Kupiansk is a strategic location due to its importance as a railroad junction and proximity to critical military operations. Russian forces have been intensifying their bombardment of the city and surrounding areas, but Ukrainian troops have held strong against these attacks.
Russian Military Tries to Advance
Voloshyn said that the Russian military is trying to advance with small assault groups and is accumulating forces for a powerful assault. However, Ukrainian soldiers are destroying Russian equipment and units attempting to cross the Oskil River.
He revealed that when Russian groups of around 8-10 soldiers try to cross the river, only 2-3 make it to the shore before being eliminated by Ukrainian fire support and drones.
Ukrainian Defenders Hold Strong
Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov confirmed that Russian forces are trying to cross the Oskil River to reach the right bank in Kupiansk. However, Ukrainian defenders are destroying these groups.
Syniehubov also noted that active fighting has been ongoing for the second day in the Kupiansk direction. Ukrainian soldiers are identifying and eliminating Russian attempts on the approaches to Kupiansk and other areas.
