**Students Take Over Cambridge University**
A group of students is protesting the war in Gaza and has taken over the lawns of an iconic university. The students, who are members of Cambridge for Palestine, entered Greenwich House on Friday.
They claimed that the university had failed to act on previous agreements to review investments in the defence industry and arms industry. A spokesperson for the group said they were unhappy with the university’s response to their demands.
**Protesters Take to the Lawns**
The protesters used ladders to climb up onto the lawns of Senate House, near King’s College Chapel. They also attached flags and banners to the railings. The university staff who work in the building were told to work from home on Wednesday.
**Long History of University Events**
Since the 18th century, graduation ceremonies have been held at Senate House. The protesters are now making demands that include labeling Israel’s military action in Gaza as genocide and boycotting institutions and companies involved in the conflict.
**University Response**
A spokesperson for the university acknowledged the importance of peaceful demonstration and expressed concerns about the current situation in Gaza, Israel, and Lebanon. They also stated that the university will begin exploring its relationship with the defence industry.
