**Georgian President: “Illegitimate Government Declared War on Own People”**
The Georgian government has made a big decision. They will not try to join the European Union until 2028. This means that Georgia will not be able to talk about joining the EU for several years.
President Salome Zurabishvili is unhappy with this decision. She says it’s like marching from Europe back to Russia. “Today, we have reached the end of a march that started in Europe and was heading towards Russia,” she said.
**Government Accused of Treason**
The President accused the government of declaring war on its own people. “This illegitimate government has declared not peace, but war against its own people, past, and future,” she said. She warned that this decision will lead to no statehood, independence, or future for Georgia, except becoming part of Russia.
