**Ukraine’s Energy Infrastructure Under Attack**
The Ukrainian thermal power station we visited is a scene of devastation. Twisted metal, pools of oil, and walls with shrapnel holes cover the area. But one thing stands out: patches of snow.
Despite another harsh winter ahead, engineers are busy repairing what they can. The recent Russian air strike has damaged the facility, but the extent of the damage is unknown for security reasons.
**Russia’s Target List**
Russia collects all information to draw up its next target list. Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has been attacked 10 times this year, causing a huge burden on the entire system. Before the latest attacks, Ukraine had lost half of its power generation capacity.
**A Nation Adapting**
Ukrainians are adapting to the power cuts. In one building, residents have clubbed together to install a larger system in the basement. This allows them to keep a lift operating and pump hot water to upper floors. For Nataliya Andriyko, it’s a blessing.
“It’s a bizarre feeling,” she says. “I’m happy to have these basic needs met. I can take my dog downstairs in the lift rather than walking in the dark.”
**Comedy in the Face of Crisis**
A new film, “Zbory OSBB”, shows how residents bicker over buying generators and solar panels. The writer says it’s a nightmare trying to find common ground. But despite the crisis, audiences are looking for positive news.
“It’s impossible to live in such dramatic conditions without some positive emotions,” he says. “People need this.”
