The ambassador of the European Union said: Today we all woke up with a new reality. What happened yesterday was against the policy of every previous government of Georgia and against the wishes of a vast majority of Georgians.  

**EU Integration on Hold in Georgia**

The European Union has expressed disappointment over the Georgian government‘s statement that it will not pursue EU integration for the next 4 years. This news was shared by Ambassador Paweł Herczyński with journalists.

**A Shift in Policy**

This change in policy is a shock to many, especially considering the words of President Ursula von der Leyen from 2 years ago. She said that Georgia belongs in the European Union and that it will not be complete without the country. This was seen as a guiding principle for EU-Georgia relations.

**Sadness and Disappointment**

Ambassador Herczyński expressed his personal sadness over this change, saying it contradicts the wishes of most Georgians. He noted that Georgia is an independent country, but that he believes integration with the EU would be beneficial.
