**Georgians Protest EU Accession Suspension**
People in Georgia took to the streets on Tuesday to protest against their government‘s decision. The government, led by PM Irakli Kobakhidze, announced that it would suspend efforts to join the European Union until 2028. This move was also accompanied by a refusal of budgetary support from the EU.
**Demonstrations Across the Country**
Protests were held in several cities across Georgia, including Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Batumi, and Gori. The peaceful demonstrations turned violent as police used force to disperse the crowds. Tear gas, pepper spray, and water cannons were used against protesters late at night.
**Violence Against Protesters**
Reports say nearly 50 people were arrested during the protests. Many journalists who were doing their jobs were attacked and beaten by police and unidentified men in black. Opposition figures were also targeted. The violence was particularly brutal, with beatings reported upon detention.
