**Russian Agent Sentenced to 15 Years for Coordinating Missile Strikes in Ukraine**
A Russian military intelligence agent has been convicted of using social media to coordinate missile strikes in Ukraine. The woman, who is 43 years old and from Donetsk Oblast, was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The Ukrainian security service SBU arrested the agent in August 2023 while she was trying to escape to Russia. She had moved to Kyiv after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine and later rented an apartment in Zhytomyr Oblast, a region that was targeted by Russian missile strikes.
**Using Social Media for Espionage**
The SBU investigation found that the agent used social media platforms to connect with Russian military intelligence. She created a personal page on Odnoklassniki, a Russian social network that is banned in Ukraine. The page was used to glorify Wagner mercenary group members and justify their crimes.
After being remotely recruited by Russian agents, she received instructions and an operational pseudonym. She then transmitted information to her handler through anonymous messenger chats and email.
**Found Guilty of State Treason**
The court found the agent guilty under two articles of the Ukrainian Criminal Code: state treason during martial law and justifying Russian aggression against Ukraine. The conviction is part of a larger effort by the SBU to capture Russian agents operating in Ukraine and dismantle networks that facilitate espionage and sabotage activities.
