**Ukrainian Poet and Soldier Killed in Action**
Myroslav Herasymovych, a well-known Ukrainian writer, screenwriter, and musician, was killed on November 25 while fighting on the front lines near Avdiivka. He would have turned 57 just days later.
Herasymovych was a founder of the Free Arts School. He joined Ukraine’s armed forces from the very beginning of the full-scale invasion. This shows his strong commitment to defending his country.
**A Man with Strong Principles**
The mayor of Irpin, Oleksandr Markushyn, remembered Herasymovych as “a man of ideals and principles.” The writer had been part of two significant events in Ukraine’s history: the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity. His brother shared a quote from his work that shows how he felt about fighting for his country.
**A Great Loss for Ukraine**
Herasymovych was not just a soldier, but also an artist with many talents – a poet, prose writer, screenwriter, musician, and educator. He was killed by a Russian air bomb while on duty. This is a sad reminder of the price Ukraine has paid since 2022.
