The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, is speaking out against the government’s response to a protest on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi.
In a social media post, the President said that the government was using “illegal means” to silence protesters. She wrote: “Another violent night in Tbilisi. The illegitimate government is resorting to illegal means to silence Georgians who are standing firm for their constitutional, European choice.”
The President’s comments come after a night of protests and clashes between police and demonstrators on Rustaveli Avenue.
