**President of Georgia Stays in Office to Ensure Stability**
The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, has stated that she will remain in office to ensure stability for the country. She believes that the current situation is a “deep crisis” and that the country needs stability above all else.
According to President Zurabishvili, many people are taking to the streets to protest against the ruling party, Georgian Dream. In addition, some public servants are leaving their jobs and spontaneous protests are being held in cities across Georgia. This is unusual for the country, as usually only Tbilisi sees protests.
**Call for New Elections**
The President stated that what the people are demanding on the streets is new elections so that the country can return to its European path. She believes that she is proposing a stable transitional period until these elections take place. If the Georgian Dream ignores this demand, the President thinks that the protesters will continue to demonstrate their determination despite violence and force.
**European Help**
The President mentioned that the European Parliament has already passed a resolution calling for new elections in Georgia. The European Council will also make a decision on this matter in mid-December. A technical mission from Europe will be sent to discuss the conditions for the next elections, which should ensure free and fair voting.
**President’s Safety**
When asked if she feels safe and whether she might be arrested, President Zurabishvili replied that she doesn’t think so. She believes that the people on the streets are protecting her and that the ruling party is becoming increasingly isolated.
