**Georgian Expert Criticizes Suspension of EU Accession Talks**
A leading Georgian expert has spoken out against the government‘s decision to suspend talks with the European Union. Prof. Dr. Khatuna Burkadze, Director of Foreign Policy Studies at “Geocase”, says this move is unconstitutional and bad for the country.
According to her, Article 78 of the Constitution of Georgia requires state bodies to work towards full EU integration. By suspending these talks, the government is going against its own constitution and the will of the majority of Georgians. Burkadze argues that this decision deprives the country of a chance to become a full member of the European family.
**EU Integration is Key**
Burkade stresses that EU integration is Georgia’s “civilizational choice”, which would lead to greater development, progress, and stability for the country. She believes that the current situation in Georgia poses a serious threat to its statehood, including political, economic, social, and security factors.
Additionally, Burkadze says that the use of force against peaceful protesters is unacceptable and should be investigated by the authorities.
**US Suspends Partnership**
Following the suspension of EU accession talks, the US Department of State also suspended its strategic partnership with Georgia. Burkade believes that this move is a result of Georgian Dream’s anti-democratic actions and urges the government to return to its Euro-Atlantic path.
