**MEP Calls for End to Violence in Georgia**
Georgia is in a crisis, says MEP Rasa Juknevičienė. She believes the country’s leaders are causing the problem by not following a European path.
The MEP wants all responsible Georgians, including government officials and opposition leaders, to start talking about how to solve the crisis. This should happen immediately, she says.
**What Should Be Done**
Juknevičienė has a plan to stop the violence in Georgia. She thinks:
* The Georgian government should stop using police force against protesters.
* Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri should resign.
* A temporary government of national unity should be formed, led by President Salome Zurabishvili.
* An international investigation into the violence against journalists, opposition members, and protesters should be conducted.
* The European Union and other countries should put individual sanctions on those responsible for the violence.
**New Elections Needed**
The MEP also says that new parliamentary elections should take place within three months. These elections should be organized with help from democratic partners from around the world.
Juknevičienė thinks preparations for a national unity government should start after these elections. She believes international partners and representatives of the European Union can help negotiate an agreement between Georgian political forces and civil society.
