**Georgian Ambassador Resigns**
Davit Zalkaliani, the Georgian ambassador to the United States, has resigned. This was confirmed by Irakli Kobakhidze, a top official of the ruling party Georgian Dream.
Zalkaliani had previously been Foreign Minister from 2018 to 2022. Kobakhidze said that Zalkaliani had come under pressure from many sides before his resignation.
**Other Diplomats Also Quit**
Several other diplomats have also left their posts. These include ambassadors to the Netherlands, Bulgaria, and Italy, as well as the United States. This followed an announcement by Georgian Dream on November 28 that it was stopping Georgia‘s bid to join the European Union.
