**People Arrested at Protests Point to Police Brutality**
The Public Defender’s Office has visited 125 people arrested or injured during protests in Tbilisi, Batumi, and Kutaisi on November 28-30. The office has provided information about the condition of 81 of these people.
**Many Report Improper Treatment by Police**
Representatives from the Public Defender’s Office have spoken with 44 more people who were arrested on November 30. Of these, 38 reported being treated improperly by police. Many had visible injuries, mostly to their faces. Some even claimed that police officers deliberately hit them after surrounding and not giving them a chance to escape.
**Personal Belongings Confiscated**
Many of the detainees also said that their personal belongings were taken from them during arrest. These included mobile phones, laptops, and wallets with money inside. The fate of these items is unknown to the detainees.
**Public Defender’s Office Investigating**
The Public Defender’s Office has given information about alleged police violence to the Special Investigation Service. They have also provided video materials that show instances of improper treatment by police.
The Public Defender’s Office hotline (14 81) is open 24 hours a day, and representatives will continue to visit arrested persons and journalists, reporting their findings back to the public.
