**President Reacts to Official’s Resignation**
The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, has made a comment on the resignation of Giorgi Gabekhadze. He was the chief instructor of the tactical training service at the MIA Academy.
Gabekhadze resigned from his position on December 2, 2024. In a statement, he said that this decision was difficult but necessary for him.

The President has reacted to Gabekhadze’s resignation. On her Facebook page, she wrote: “The first swallow appeared from the Ministry of Internal Affairs! This is an unmistakable sign of the collapse of the repressive apparatus!”
She added: “The state is you who, in all agencies and in whatever position you are, put your homeland above your personal career interest!”

By calling Gabekhadze’s resignation a “first swallow”, the President seems to be saying that this event is an early sign of something bigger happening. She believes that it shows that the country‘s repressive apparatus is breaking down.
