**EU Top Diplomat Visits Ukraine, Promises Support**
Kaja Kallas, the new vice-president of the European Commission and top EU diplomat, visited Kyiv on December 1. In an exclusive interview with the Kyiv Independent, she discussed Ukraine support and recent EU sanctions against Russia.
Ms. Kallas said that the war in Ukraine cannot be resolved on the battlefield and must be solved at the negotiating table. She visited Kyiv on her first day in her new role.
**Ukraine’s Military Training**
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have trained over 300,000 service members since 2014. Ivan Buvaltsev, head of the training department, said that their accuracy is not very high due to outdated technologies.
**Germany Sends Arms**
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited Ukraine on December 2 and promised to deliver 650 million euros worth of arms this month.
**Georgian Crackdown Condemned**
Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry condemned the violent crackdown by Georgian authorities against pro-EU protesters. Several journalists and a leader of an opposition party were detained.
**Russian Attacks**
Russia launched 110 Shahed-type drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles against Ukraine, with 52 shot down and 50 lost due to electronic warfare countermeasures.
**North Korean Soldiers in Russia**
President Volodymyr Zelensky said that some North Korean soldiers fighting for Russia have been killed. He also stated that Ukraine’s army lacks the strength to liberate territories held by Russia since 2014, including Crimea.
**Romanian Elections**
The ruling Social Democratic Party (PSD) received 22.5% of the votes in Romania’s parliamentary elections.
**Russian Drone Attack**
A Russian drone attack on Ternopil caused a fire and resulted in casualties.
**Ukraine’s eSupport Program**
Ukraine’s new eSupport program received over 2.1 million applications, including nearly half a million for children.
