**EU Top Diplomat Visits Ukraine, Promises Support**

Kaja Kallas, the new vice-president of the and top EU diplomat, visited Kyiv on December 1. In an exclusive interview with the Kyiv Independent, she discussed Ukraine support and recent EU sanctions against Russia.

Ms. Kallas said that the war in Ukraine cannot be resolved on the battlefield and must be solved at the negotiating table. She visited Kyiv on her first day in her new role.
