Ukrainian Forces Strike Russian Bases in Crimea
The Ukrainian military has launched a major attack on Russian bases in the Crimean Peninsula. The strike was carried out using a mix of missiles and drones, with reports suggesting that over 40 deep-strike munitions were deployed.
The targets included strategic locations such as Belbek air base and the Nakhimov Naval Academy. Smoke could be seen rising from these sites after the attack. This suggests that the Ukrainian forces have had significant impact on Russian military infrastructure.
According to experts, this was an unprecedented operation in terms of the mix of weaponry used by the Ukrainians. It included British–made Storm Shadow cruise missiles launched by Sukhoi Su–24 bombers, as well as converted S-200 air-defense missiles and intelligence directorate strike drones.
The attack has caused “panic” among Russian forces, according to analyst WarTranslated. The Kremlin claimed to have intercepted 25 drones, but this would still mean that over a dozen missiles or drones were able to penetrate defenses.
