**Georgian Police Praised for Handling of Protests**
The Georgian government has praised the country’s police force for its handling of recent protests on Rustaveli Avenue.
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said that the police acted at a higher standard than those in America and Europe. He commended them for keeping calm and avoiding conflict during the five-day protest action.
Kobakhidze noted that while there were some problems on the first two days of the protests, things improved over the next three days with no incidents occurring. The Prime Minister thanked the police and their minister for doing a good job.
**Protests Declared a Failure**
The Prime Minister also declared the “Natsmaidn” protests a failure. He said that the police had acted professionally and in line with European standards, while the protesters were not behaving in a civilized manner.
Kobakhidze’s comments suggest that the Georgian government is pleased with how the protests were handled and believes that it shows the country can maintain order and stability.
