A court in the city of Gomel, Belarus has sentenced a Ukrainian man named Vyacheslav Borodiy to 10 years in prison. He was accused of espionage and weapons trafficking.
Borodiy, who was given the code name “Agent Mongoose,” allegedly worked for Ukraine’s military intelligence and security services. The authorities claimed he received training to transport weapons and explosives into Belarus for potential attacks.
The charges against Borodiy included crossing the border illegally, smuggling weapons, organizing illegal migration, and spying. Two other people were also convicted in the same case, but their sentences are not known.
