Constitutional Court Rejects Election Lawsuits
The Constitutional Court of Georgia has made a decision. The court did not agree with the President and 30 politicians who said the October 26 elections were unfair.
These politicians, including the President, wanted the court to say that the elections were unconstitutional. They claimed that voters living abroad had no right to vote in secret. But the Constitutional Court disagreed.
The court’s decision is final and cannot be appealed or changed. One judge, Giorgi Kverenchkhiladze, wrote a separate opinion saying he did not agree with the decision on some points related to voting rights for people living abroad.
This means that the elections held on October 26 will stand as they are. The President and opposition politicians who brought the lawsuits are not happy with this outcome.
