**Police Arrest 7 People Over Violent Protests**

The police have arrested 7 people in connection with violent protests that took place November 28, 2024. The protests were held on Rustaveli Avenue near the building and turned violent.

**Investigation Underway**

The Ministry of Internal Affairs is investigating the violent incidents under Articles 225 and of the of Georgia. These articles make it punishable by up to 9 years in prison to organize or lead group violence, or to participate in it.

Additionally, the police are also investigating criminal acts committed by violent groups under Articles 187 and 353 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. This is a separate investigation that involves 6 people and carries a penalty of up to 7 years in prison.

**Police Promise Action**

The police have promised to take action against anyone who commits illegal actions during protests. According to , director of the Central Criminal Police Department, “any illegal action will be followed by an appropriate legal response from the police.”
