**Ukrainian Counterattack Prevents Russian Advances**
A key stronghold in Ukraine’s southeastern front line section has been secured by Ukrainian Defense Forces. The DeepState analytical project reports that control of Novyi Komar village in the Donetsk region has been reclaimed.
Russian advances had threatened to cut important logistical roads for the Ukrainian army. However, fighters from the 48th Separate Assault Battalion have pushed Russian occupying forces out of Novyi Komar. This strategically important village is near Velyka Novosilka.
**Other Developments**
Russian forces have occupied Blahodatne village and made small advances in nine settlements across the Donetsk region. The situation at the front remains tense, with combat operations concentrated in several key areas.
The Russian offensive in Ukraine’s southeast has continued since October 2023, progressing by nearly 40 kilometers over 14 months. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that the Kurakhove and Pokrovsk directions remain the most challenging areas along the front line.
**International Response**
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg believes that demonstrating long-term readiness to support Ukraine could lead to a quicker end to the Russian war in Ukraine.
