**Young Man Beaten by Masked Men Taken to Hospital**
A 20-year-old man was severely beaten by masked men on December 4. He was taken to hospital in an ambulance after his trial was postponed due to his health condition.
The young man was arrested early on December 4 near the Technical University metro station. He was waiting for a friend when masked persons in a pickup truck started cursing and threatening him. They chased him with their car, hit him, and beat him up.
He was taken to the Dighom detention center where he spent over 35 hours. His lawyer from “Rights of Georgia” said that despite his severe condition, the young man had difficulty moving and had pains all over his body.
The lawyer insisted on transferring the young man to a medical facility but was initially refused by the isolation ward staff. Only after the lawyer’s insistence, an emergency brigade was called and took the young man to Tbilisi Central Hospital.
**Medical Negligence**
This is not the first case of medical negligence reported by “Rights of Georgia”. A few days ago, another detainee was not transferred to a medical clinic despite showing signs of serious injury. He lost consciousness several times during his trial and only after being taken to a hospital was diagnosed with a broken nose and concussion.
The organization believes that the behavior of the detention center employees contradicts international standards for providing adequate medical services to people under state control.
**Trial Postponed**
Due to the young man’s health condition, his trial was postponed until December 12. The judge initially did not postpone the session despite the lawyer’s warnings about the young man’s serious condition.
