Senator Risch wants Americans to think about how to use laws like the “Magnitsky Act” to protect people’s rights and freedoms in countries like Georgia. This law was created to punish people who hurt others, but Senator Risch thinks it could be used in other ways too.
The Georgian government has been stopping pro-EU protests using force. Senator Risch wants them to stop this behavior and let people make their own choices about the future of their country.
Senator James Risch thanked a colleague, Senator Jeanne Shaheen, for arranging a call with Georgia’s President Salome Zurabishvili. He hopes that this will lead to positive change in Georgia.
