**Ukrainian Forces Regain Control of Novyi Komar Village**
Ukrainian troops have driven Russian forces out of the village of Novyi Komar in Donetsk Oblast. The village, which had a pre-war population of less than 500 people, is located about 50 kilometers west of the Russian-occupied town of Vuhledar.
According to Nazar Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Khortytsia group of forces, “The enemy was driven out of there. The village of Novyi Komar is under the control of the (Ukrainian) Defense Forces.”
**Russian Losses and Ukraine’s Counteroffensive**
This comes as Ukrainian officials have raised concerns about a possible new Russian push in Zaporizhzhia Oblast in the south, just as Russian forces continue to advance in the east. Russia captured 234.79 square kilometers in one week in mid-November, which is the highest number in 2024.
