**Journalists Targeted in Ongoing Protests**
A leader of the “Unity – National Movement“, Tamar Kordzaia, has spoken out about the targeted persecution of journalists during recent protests. According to her, there are “buffer zones” where Ministry of Internal Affairs officers beat arrested protesters in cars.
These areas are cordoned off from public view, preventing anyone from witnessing the brutality firsthand. Kordzaia pointed out that this lack of transparency is intentional, and that authorities do not want evidence of their actions to exist.
**Three Main Problems**
Kordzaia identified three main problems that have arisen during the ongoing protests:
1. **Persecution of Journalists**: Reporters, photographers, and camera operators are being targeted by authorities, with the goal of suppressing coverage of the government’s actions.
2. **Physical Retribution in Buffer Zones**: Detained protesters are being beaten in cars within these buffer zones, where access is restricted to prevent outsiders from witnessing the abuse.
3. **Illegal Searches and Seizures**: Offices of political parties, NGOs, and public movements have been raided without proper authorization or a court ruling.
**Call for Transparency**
Kordzaia emphasized that events are unfolding too quickly to document all evidence in real-time. She urged citizens to pay attention to these three critical issues and demand accountability from the authorities.
