Leaders of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland Speak Out Against Violence in Georgia.
The presidents of four European countries – Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland – have made a strong statement about the situation in Georgia. They condemned the use of force against the Georgian people and called on the Georgian authorities to stop these actions immediately.
The leaders are disappointed with the decision by the ruling party in Georgia to delay joining the European Union until 2028. This move blocks Georgia’s path towards integration with Europe, a goal that many Georgians want to achieve.
The presidents also mentioned the disputed parliamentary elections held in October 2024. They say these elections were marred by controversy and question their legitimacy. The European Parliament has called for the elections to be re-held.
The leaders of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland support Georgia’s bid to join Europe. They call on the Georgian authorities to protect the fundamental freedoms of assembly and expression. Any violence used against the people should be investigated and those responsible held accountable.
