**Ukraine‘s Missile Programs Face Challenges, But Grom-2 Advances**
Despite difficulties, Ukraine continues to develop its own ballistic missile system. Lieutenant General Ihor Romanenko said that new missile systems are expected to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces soon.
**Progress in Defense Production**
In 2024, Ukraine has made significant strides in defense production. The country produced over 100 missiles and increased its overall defense capabilities. Ukraine invested around $7 billion in its defense sector last year, focusing on modernizing its military through drones, robotics, and electronic warfare systems.
**Missile Programs and Challenges**
Romanenko explained that the “Sapsan” missile program was started years ago but never completed due to Russia’s opposition. Today, Ukraine has other missile programs, including the “Grom-2”, which is being developed based on the “Sapsan”. He emphasized that these projects require time, money, and focused efforts.
**Limited Capabilities**
Romanenko noted that Ukraine’s capabilities are limited, so it should not be expected to have a missile system like Russia’s “Kedr” intermediate-range ballistic missile. However, he mentioned that new systems will be introduced to the Ukrainian Armed Forces soon.
**New Developments in Missile Production**
Recently, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced that Ukraine has resumed and scaled up the serial production of the R-360 cruise missile for the “Neptune” complex. Modified missiles are now capable of hitting targets at a greater range. The missile drone “Palyanytsia”, first introduced in August, has also entered serial production.
