**Russian Forces Weakened in Zaporizhzhia Oblast**
Russia lacks the resources to launch a large-scale attack on Zaporizhzhia, according to Ukrainian officials. Serhii Bratchuk, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army South, spoke about this on Ukrainian Radio.
Earlier reports showed that Russia had to move one of its most combat-ready units from Zaporizhzhia to Russia due to a successful Ukrainian operation in August. This left them unable to carry out a major attack on Zaporizhzhia.
**Information Campaign**
However, Bratchuk noted that Russia is trying to spread false information about potential attacks in the area. They are using social media to exaggerate events and make it seem like there are more happening than actually are.
“They are investing significant effort in this area,” Bratchuk said. “They’re making it look like things are happening that aren’t.”
**Russian Movements**
The Ukrainian Volunteer Army South has reported Russian movements in the Robotyne, Orikhiv, and Huliaipole directions within Zaporizhzhia Oblast. There have been intense battles near Velyka Novosilka, which is close to the border of three regions: Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Donetsk.
Ukrainian forces have managed to gain control over one settlement in this area. The Russian army’s current operations are limited to small groups rather than large-scale attacks.
**Threats**
The main threat to Zaporizhzhia city remains aerial attacks with guided bombs, missiles, and kamikaze drones. These attacks aim to terrorize civilians, but Bratchuk emphasized that the Ukrainian forces have defenses in place to protect against these threats.
“Currently, the enemy lacks resources to launch a large-scale offensive in the region,” he said. “The main threat remains aerial attacks.”
**Kherson**
In Kherson, Russian forces have assembled 300 boats near the city, which could be used for river crossing operations. However, Bratchuk commented that this would be suicidal for the enemy.
Russian forces are currently trying to control Dnipro islands to expand their “grey zone” and terrorize nearby communities. Ukrainian forces maintain complete fire control over potential crossing points along the nearly 200-kilometer stretch of the river.
