Russian Drone Attack on Ukraine Foiled by Air Defense Systems
Ukrainian air defense systems were able to intercept 7 out of 14 Russian drones launched at the country overnight. The Air Force of Ukraine reported that the drones were launched from Primorsko-Akhtarsk and targeted multiple Ukrainian regions.
The Ukrainian Air Force said that in addition to the 7 drones shot down, 6 more went missing and 1 flew into Russian-controlled airspace. This was part of a larger wave of attacks on Ukraine by Russia.
People Injured in Russian Attacks
Overnight, 17 people were injured due to Russian attacks in the Kherson Oblast. Residential areas across several settlements in the region were targeted, causing damage to homes and infrastructure.
In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, 25 people were injured when a Russian attack destroyed a service station and damaged buildings. In Kryvyi Rih, a city in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, 3 people were killed and 17 were injured when a Russian attack destroyed a building and damaged infrastructure.
Other regions also suffered from Russian attacks, with 2 people injured in Donetsk Oblast and residential buildings damaged in several communities.
Norway Contributes to Ukraine’s Defense
In related news, Norway has agreed to contribute €125 million ($134 million) to a joint initiative aimed at providing Ukraine with 100 Patriot missiles. The funding is part of a larger effort by Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway to support Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression.
