Protesters in Georgia Vow to Continue Demonstrations
People in Georgia are continuing their protests against the government. The leader of “Strong Georgia“, Mamuka Khazaradze, spoke to journalists about the reason for the demonstrations.
Khazaradze said that the government and its leader, Bidzina Ivanishvili, were in a difficult situation. He claimed that the protesters were fighting against an illegitimate government backed by Russia. The elections in Georgia had been rigged and hijacked, according to Khazaradze.
The protests are aimed at getting new elections and having the country return to its path of European integration. People want normal courts, protection for their rights, and no violence or raids on the streets.
Protesters gathered in the yard of Tbilisi State University before marching to the parliament building. They demand that the government hold new elections and release citizens who were arrested during the protests.
