**Russian Attacks on Ukraine Kill One, Injure Nine**
Over the past day, Russian attacks on Ukraine have killed at least one person and injured nine. The attacks targeted several cities and settlements in Kherson Oblast, including the city of Kherson.
One person was killed and eight others were injured as a result of the attacks, according to regional authorities. Another person was injured in Donetsk Oblast.
**Russian Military Launches Drones and Missiles**
The Russian military launched two cruise missiles from the Black Sea overnight on December 9. They also launched 37 Shaheds and other unidentified drones into Ukrainian airspace. Ukraine’s Air Force shot down 18 of the drones over nine oblasts, while 19 were lost in the airspace.
**Russian Forces Suffer Heavy Casualties**
Russia has spent at least $200 billion on its war with Ukraine since the start of its full-scale invasion in 2022. U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin made this estimate during a conference in California.
Ukraine’s General Staff reported that Russian forces suffered 1,460 casualties just over the past day. This includes 1,220 casualties reported earlier in the week.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced plans to introduce a law banning participants in rallies and counter-rallies from covering their faces.
