Doctor Arrested for Drugs Will Face Charges Today
A doctor in Georgia, Giorgi Akhobadze, will be officially charged today. He was arrested on December 7th while returning home from a protest.
According to his lawyer, Lasha Tsutskiridze, the charge is likely to be buying and storing large amounts of narcotics. The lawyer said that the expert’s report on the seized substance has not been shared with him yet.
Tsutskiridze explained that Akhobadze was arrested while returning home from a protest with his friend. He was stopped by police, searched, and had an object placed in his pocket. The doctor claims he felt it and was then taken to a tree where he was searched again.
The lawyer said that the doctor is being held under poor conditions, with limited access to food and water. Akhobadze has also described the moment of his arrest in detail, but no video evidence exists.
The court will discuss preventive measures against Giorgi Akhobadze after the charges are filed.
