**People Detained in Georgia since November 28**
Over 460 people have been detained in Georgia since November 28. This is according to Eka Gigauri, the head of the NGO “Transparency International – Georgia”. Many of these people were subjected to torture and inhumane treatment during their arrest and detention.
**Torture and Inhuman Treatment**
More than 300 people were tortured or treated in an inhumane way while they were being held. Over 80 people had to be taken to the hospital because of this. The ages of those detained range from 15 to 60 years old. There are also 10 foreign citizens among those arrested.
**Judges Not Listening**
Eka Gigauri said that judges are not listening to evidence from the defense side. Instead, they are making decisions based on what police officers say. Judges are also not allowing detainees to talk about their conditions in isolation cells or during detention. They are not interviewing them about torture either.
**Harsh Sanctions**
Judges have been using harsh sanctions against those who were detained. Fines range from 2,000 GEL to 3,000 GEL and some people have even been imprisoned for up to 14 days. This has caused problems in the detention centers, which are overcrowded. Lawyers have had to wait for hours to find out where their clients are being held.
**No Action Against Police**
At this stage, no police officers have been charged with any crimes. There are also concerns about attacks on journalists who were covering demonstrations. Some of these journalists were physically assaulted by police representatives. The government has not responded properly to these incidents.
