**Police Raid Ukrainian Railway’s Offices and Homes**
On December 11, police searched the premises of Ukraine’s state-owned railway company in Kyiv and surrounding areas. They are investigating a group of officials who may have committed a crime.
The employees are suspected of cheating people by selling fake tickets for international travel. Police took materials from offices and homes, and questioned some staff members. Some were even arrested.
Since the war with Russia started in February 2022, traveling by train has become very popular in Ukraine. Airports were closed, so more people used trains to get around the country or leave it. Unfortunately, many railway workers have died since then – over 600 people.
This is not the first time Ukrainian Railways has been involved in a corruption scandal. In April, investigators looked into how the company bought transformers at too-high prices.
