Russian Troops Face Heavy Resistance in Ukraine
Russian soldiers are trying to take control of a strategic city in eastern Ukraine. But they are facing strong opposition from Ukrainian forces.
The Russian army is trying to put pressure on the Toretsk direction, an area that has been held by Ukraine since Russia first invaded Donbas in 2014. If Russia takes control of Toretsk, it could be a big step forward for their military campaign in Donetsk Oblast.
But Ukrainian forces are holding their ground. The fighting is intense and unpredictable, with battles taking place on every street and building. Russian troops are being defeated and losing many soldiers. In one day alone, they lost 100 soldiers.
Russian forces are also trying to infiltrate the city of Chasiv Yar. They are not using big guns or tanks, but rather small-scale attacks where they send troops running towards Ukrainian positions. Whoever reaches the enemy lines is taken prisoner.
The use of such tactics is seen as brutal and ineffective. Ukrainian artillery units have been equipped with powerful cannons that can destroy enemy fortifications. These cannons were used to attack Russian forces even before they received orders to do so.
The situation in Toretsk remains unclear, with fighting taking place within the city itself. Ukrainian forces are determined to hold their ground against the Russian invasion.
