**Georgian Protest Yields Results**
The two-week protest of the Georgian people inside and outside the country has had an impact. Teona Akubardia, a member of the “Gakharia for Georgia” party, spoke at a joint meeting with four other parties.
Akubardia said that the European Union’s response to the situation in Georgia is important. The EU does not recognize the current government as legitimate and calls it “Ivanishvili‘s dream“. This means that the EU sees the government as a threat to democracy.
**EU Stands Up for Democracy**
The EU has made a statement calling on the Georgian government to stop torturing and repressing its own people. The statement also demands the release of prisoners who were unfairly held.
Akubardia said that this is an important sign of support for the Georgian people’s struggle to protect democracy and their European future. She called for sanctions against those responsible for the repression.
**Support for Brave Civil Servants**
Akubardia expressed her support for civil servants who are being threatened by the government. She encouraged them to keep standing up for what is right, despite the intimidation they face.
