**Opposition Leaders Plan to Continue Protest**
The opposition in Georgia is planning to continue its protest against the government. The next important date is December 14, when some kind of election will be held in the parliament building. But no one recognizes the legitimacy of this election.
Zurab Girchi Japaridze, a leader of the “Coalition for Change”, said this at a press conference. He mentioned that the opposition has several strategic plans to stop the government’s actions. The first plan is to prevent foreign countries from recognizing the Russian-backed government in Georgia. So far, only Nicaragua, Venezuela, Russia, and Iran have recognized it.
Another part of their strategy is to continue the protest on the streets. People are coming out in large numbers in Tbilisi and other cities every day. Despite a difficult atmosphere, with over 500 people being detained and many beaten by police or “Titushkas”, the protesters keep going.
Japaridze also talked about helping those who have been arrested or physically injured during the protests. The opposition is providing legal assistance to these people within its resources.
