Tough Battles in Pokrovsk Demand Non-Standard Decisions, Syrskyi Says
Ukraine‘s military is facing tough battles in the city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast. The situation is so severe that Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi, says non-standard decisions are needed to increase the resilience of the defense and effectively destroy Russian forces.
Russian forces have been pushing forward in the area and have already destroyed two Ukrainian positions near Pokrovsk. According to military spokesperson Nazar Voloshyn, this has resulted in a loss of one position and damage to another.
Syrskyi visited the 38th Separate Marine Brigade on the front lines in Pokrovsk sector and said that the battles are exceptionally tough. He emphasized the need for non-standard decisions to strengthen the defense and effectively counter Russian forces.
The Ukrainian military is at a disadvantage, especially when it comes to manpower. Russian troops outnumber Ukrainian units and are pushing forward with all available forces. Syrskyi has ordered additional reserves and weapons to Pokrovsk in an effort to stall Russia’s assault.
Russian forces are now just 3 kilometers away from Pokrovsk, according to the crowd-sourced monitoring website Deep State. The situation is becoming increasingly dire for Ukraine as Russian forces continue their relentless advance in Donetsk Oblast.
