**Tensions at Mtavari TV**
The director general of Mtavari TV, Giorgi Gabunia, has accused one of the channel’s founders, Zaza Okuashvili, of trying to close the station. He said that Okuashvili is putting pressure on the channel to stop operating.
Gabunia claimed that Okuashvili had blocked important deals and contracts, including health insurance for employees. If this continues, Mtavari TV may be taken off the air.
**A Business Dispute?**
Gabunia accused Okuashvili of trying to resolve a business dispute with Bidzina Ivanishvili, a wealthy businessman who supports the ruling party in Georgia. He said that Okuashvili wants to “patch up” this disagreement by closing Mtavari TV.
**Response from Zaza Okuashvili**
Okuashvili denied these accusations and called them “slander”. He claimed that Gabunia and a former director, Nika Gvaramia, had deliberately brought the channel to financial crisis. Okuashvili also rejected links with Bidzina Ivanishvili, calling them “comical” and “illogical”.
**Mtavari TV Will Continue**
Despite these tensions, Gabunia said that Mtavari TV will keep operating as long as possible. He assured the public that the channel will continue to report on important events in Georgia.
