**French President Macron Meets with Polish Prime Minister Tusk**
French President Emmanuel Macron visited Warsaw on December 12 to meet with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Their meeting comes after Macron’s talks in Paris with US president-elect Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Macron met with Trump and Zelenskyy on December 7, where they discussed ending the Russo-Ukrainian war. Trump called for an immediate ceasefire and negotiations to end the war. Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Trump for his support in ending the conflict.
**Preparing for Poland’s EU Presidency**
The meeting between Macron and Tusk is also focused on preparing for Poland’s EU Council presidency in 2025. The Elysée Palace stated that their discussions would address Ukraine support “in a new transatlantic context”.
Tusk announced that Macron would brief him on the results of his Paris discussions with Trump and Zelenskyy. He described the meeting as “brief but important.”
**Peace Talks Possible This Winter**
Tusk also said that peace talks between Ukraine and Russia could begin this winter. This comes after previous statements suggesting that Ukraine may need to make territorial concessions to Russia in exchange for a ceasefire.
