**Ukraine Condemns Large-Scale Attack on Energy Infrastructure**
An emergency meeting was held in Ukraine to discuss a recent attack on the country’s energy infrastructure. On November 28, there were drone and missile attacks that caused severe power outages and disrupted electricity supply to three nuclear plants.
This created a significant risk to nuclear safety. The energy minister said Russia had struck a “massive blow” at the nation’s power grid. To protect the energy system, emergency blackouts were implemented in multiple regions by Ukrenergo, the state grid operator.
**IAEA Board Passes Resolution**
The IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) board of governors passed a resolution condemning attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Twenty-two countries supported the resolution, while 10 abstained. Russia and China voted against it. The resolution stated that attacks on energy infrastructure critical for nuclear power plants represent a direct threat to nuclear safety.
Noteably, this time there was no mention of Russia as the perpetrator in the resolution. In contrast, previous resolutions had named Russia specifically.
