MEP Visits Tbilisi to Support Democracy
European Parliamentarian Rasa Juknevičienė was in Tbilisi for a rally on Rustaveli Avenue. She spoke with the media about the situation.
Juknevičienė said that the current government is not good enough. Without new elections, Georgia can’t get back on track to join the European Union (EU). The EU’s way of doing things is written in the Georgian Constitution.
The MEP and her colleagues are in Tbilisi to send a strong message to the EU: “not just talk, but act”. They want to help establish the facts about what’s happening. Juknevičienė said that people in Georgia, Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine are all fighting for freedom.
The European Union should support these freedom fighters and not be afraid of challenging Russia‘s government, led by Vladimir Putin. The EU should push their institutions to take action, not just talk about it.
