US Slams Georgia’s Ruling Party
The US State Department has imposed visa restrictions on 20 Georgian citizens. These individuals include government ministers, parliament members, law enforcement and security officials.
These restrictions are part of the US policy to punish those who undermine democracy in Georgia. The US strongly condemns the actions of the ruling party, called Georgian Dream. They have been accused of using violence against their own citizens, including protesters, journalists, human rights activists, and opposition leaders.
The US wants a democratic and prosperous Georgia that is part of the European community. To achieve this goal, they will take further action, including economic sanctions. This move targets over 100 people affiliated with Georgian Dream and their families.
These steps are meant to show the US’ commitment to supporting democracy in Georgia.
