**Georgian President Legitimate?**
A group called Transparency International Georgia says the president of Georgia is not legitimate. They claim that the person elected as president, Mikheil Kavelashvili, was chosen by a party and not in a fair election.
According to them, this is part of a bigger problem. The same party, Georgian Dream, rigged an election in October 2024 and took control of the country. Now they are saying who should be president without following the rules.
Transparency International Georgia says that because the parliament was chosen unfairly, it’s not legitimate either. And since the president is chosen by a non-legitimate parliament, he’s also not legitimate.
**What Do They Want?**
This group wants the party in charge to stop making things worse and follow the law and the country’s constitution. They want them to do several things:
* Release people who were unfairly arrested during protests
* Hold new elections that are fair and free from bias
By doing this, they believe the country can come out of its current crisis.
