**German Company Continues Luxury Goods Supplies to Russia**
A German company, Gebr. Heinemann, runs shops at Lithuanian airports and claims to follow EU sanctions against Russia. However, an investigation found that the company continues to supply luxury goods to Russia.
The company has ties with Russian oligarchs and has provided goods like Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel to Russian duty-free shops. Despite promises to leave Russia after its invasion of Ukraine, Gebr. Heinemann kept supplying luxury items.
EU sanctions aim to weaken Russia’s economy by restricting access to markets and technologies. However, some European companies still operate in Russia, including Gebr. Heinemann.
The company claims that its wholesale prices for luxury goods are below the €300 threshold set by EU sanctions. This allows them to continue supplying these goods to Russia, despite international efforts to isolate the country economically.
