**Russia Launches Huge Attack on Ukraine’s Energy Infrastructure**
Russia has attacked Ukraine’s energy infrastructure for the 12th time this year. The attack used 93 missiles and over 200 drones, but authorities said most of the missiles were shot down.
The strikes targeted areas in western Ukraine, causing damage to several energy facilities. Some regions have been severely affected, with authorities in Ivano-Frankivsk calling it the worst attack on their area so far.
**Russia Responds to Ukrainian Strike**
The attack was a response to a Ukrainian strike on a Russian military airbase using US-made missiles. US President-elect Donald Trump said he disagreed with this action and thought it would make the war worse.
In an interview, Trump said: “We’re just escalating this war and making it worse.” The Kremlin welcomed his comments, saying they were “fully aligned” with Moscow’s position.
**Impact on Ukraine**
The attack has caused power supply restrictions across all regions in Ukraine. Rolling blackouts have been introduced, and the country is importing electricity from neighboring countries like Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Moldova.
Five out of nine nuclear reactor units are operating at reduced power due to the attack. Authorities are working to restore power supplies as quickly as possible.
**No Critical Infrastructure Hit in Kyiv**
Despite the widespread damage, Governor Ruslan Kravchenko said no critical or residential infrastructure was hit in the Kyiv region.
The attack came on one of the coldest days of Ukrainian winter so far, with temperatures around -6C.
