**UK Leader Calls for Stronger Sanctions Against Russia**

**G7 to Give $50 Billion to Ukraine**
The G7 countries are working on a big package of help for Ukraine. They plan to use Russian assets worth $50 billion to fund this effort. The US Secretary of State said recently that this is still being worked out.
**New Sanctions Against Russia’s Gold Trade**
Last week, the UK announced new sanctions against people who are helping Russia’s war efforts by trading in gold. This trade is used to hide money and get around existing sanctions. The UK says it will freeze assets of five individuals involved in this trade, including a CEO from Paloma Precious.
**Gold Helps Russian Economy**
The British government said that in 2021, gold brought $15.5 billion into the Russian economy. This made gold one of Russia’s most valuable commodities, after energy exports.
