In a social post, Mdinaradze denied these claims, saying “it’s a lie” and that the requirement civil servants to speak Georgian has not been cancelled. He suggested that people read the law for themselves to understand this.

Previously, contract employees were also not required to know the Georgian language. For example, ministers have hired foreign advisors who do not speak Georgian. Mdinaradze pointed out that if there is a problem with the head of a structural unit not speaking Georgian, it would be possible to include this requirement for contract employees as well.

Mdinaradze clear that exceptions could be made for foreign workers if necessary. He encouraged those spreading false information to ask their authors about it and to speak up strictly against them.
