**Aleko Elisashvili Released From Courtroom**
Aleko Elisashvili, a leader of Strong Georgia, has been released from custody. He was accused of political persecution and had been in pre-trial detention.
A court decision was made to replace his pre-trial detention with bail. The judge, Levan Gelovani, partially agreed with the prosecutor’s office.
Elisashvili was let out of the courtroom where many people were waiting for him. They included members of his team and politicians.
The prosecutor’s office had asked the court to change Elisashvili’s pre-trial detention to bail. The prosecutor, Ana Metreveli, said that while there are still threats of new crimes, they are no longer at a high level.
However, Elisashvili’s lawyers disagreed with the bail decision. They said he did not commit a crime and should be released entirely.
Elisashvili was charged under Article 156 of the Georgian Criminal Code. He could face up to three years in prison if found guilty.
The incident that led to his arrest occurred on December 2, when Elisashvili allegedly verbally and physically abused an Azerbaijani politician, Ali Babaev.
